SDL Template Auto Download Setup

SDL, SDL2 and SDL3 music web template setup

Support for Allwebco musician SDL web templates. If your download includes a folder named "download" then you have an SDL, SDL2 or SDL3 style mp3 template model. The SDL version is also indicated at the top of your help.html.
Selling Downloadable Music

Note: In SDL style templates, the 2CO link, once a client is "returned" to the download page, is coded or "hidden". The Paypal return link will be visible to the client after purchase is completed. For a more secure option see the Payloadz website to replace the Paypal template forms. Be sure to setup a "robots.txt" to keep search engines out of the "download" folder.

SDL Type 3 Setup (SDL3)
Latest version, copyright 2010 and later
Support for the "SDL3" type templates only (see the top section of your "help.html").
  1. See the "help.html" included with your download to select the type of music sales you plan to setup, albums, singles, singles & albums, or no order forms.
  2. Rename your HTML webpages to use the mp3 sales option you wish to use.
  3. Move the unused webpages into your "extras" folder.

Setup Mp3 Downloads
If you are using the singles samples pages you will need to do all of the following steps. For album sales only, skip the "SINGLES" steps.
  1. Choose the type of music HTML webpages to use on your website as outlined on your template "help.html".
  2. SINGLES: Place your full length mp3 in the "download" folder, name it "song1-1.mp3".
  3. SINGLES: Right click the "song1-1.mp3" in the "download" folder and choose send to compressed (zipped) folder. This gives the option to download 2 ways in the HTML singles return page.
  4. SINGLES: Edit the "song1-1.htm" with your info and check this page to be sure it is what you want users to see when they are sent to the "return" download page after an mp3 single is purchased.
  5. SINGLES: Check both links in the "song1-1.htm".
  6. SINGLES: Make a copy of the "song1-1.htm", name it for the next mp3. Do the steps above again and edit the 2 download links in the "song?-?.htm" you have copied. You will edit the links "song1-1.zip" and "song1-1.mp3" with the next mp3 and zip file names.
  7. ALBUM: Zip up each group or "album" of your full length mp3 files and place them in your template "download" folder. Example: Zip up the 12 mp3s (or however many mp3s you have) you are selling from the "samples1.htm" page. Name the zip file "album-1.zip".
  8. ALBUM: Edit the "album-1.htm" with your info and check this page to be sure it is what you want users to see when they are sent to the "return" download page after an mp3 album is purchased.
  9. ALBUM: Make a copy of the "album-1.htm" for each mp3 group or "album" you are offering for sale. Name them for each zip file, -2 -3 -4 for the 4 "album-?.zip" files that are to be "returned" to from the order forms on the 4 template samples pages.
  10. ALBUM: Edit the link in each "album-1.htm" copy with the zip file link. EXAMPLE: Edit the link in the "album-2.htm" from "album-1.zip" to "album-2.zip".
  11. SINGLES & ALBUM: This is the "EDIT THE SOUND" step on your template "help.html". Place your short mp3 samples in the "samples" folder, name them as indicated on your help page.
  12. Create Form Code: SINGLES & ALBUM: See the automatic download form setup support page and do steps #1 through #3 on this page to edit the forms in each of your "samples1.htm" through "samples4.htm" pages. In the default "samples1.htm" page you will create code for a total of 13 forms. 12 singles forms and 1 album form.
  13. SINGLES & ALBUM: Do the steps above for each single mp3 or album. Be sure you check all links in each "return" HTML page in the "download" folder (see next section).

Return Paths:
The return paths you will setup in your 2CO or Paypal account will appear something like the following:

SINGLES: http://your-web-domain.com/download/song1-1.htm

ALBUM: http://your-web-domain.com/download/album-1.htm

Tip: When setting up the return links, it is recommended that you upload the "download" folder, open one web browser logged into your Paypal or 2CO account and one browser opened at the return link location so you can copy the address bar link to use when generating your forms. Using copy and paste insures that the return link will work properly.
